"Not likely to happen anytime soon"

On another blog I post on, there was a rather heated discussion about freedom and, liberty. Gun ownership was tossed into the conversation.

My take on the second amendment is well known. The 2nd, is a personal right for all citizens to posess a firearm for their security. I also believe that the 2A was also another check and balance in order to keep the government UNDER the control of the people and to prevent the government from having a monoply of power.

One poster remarked that the citizens don't need an AK47 to hunt with. The second amendment...regardless of what the left has been led to believe...has nothing to do with hunting rights period.

It was also stated that a tyrany (or something of that nature) isn't likely to happen anytime soon.

Well, thats good news! Why not just wait until a police state is in place THEN go out and arm ourselves! While we're using that kind of logic, why not wait until AFTER your house burns down to buy a smoke detector?

It's foolhardy to think that you'll be able to do anything AFTER the fact because by the time you recognize whats happening, it's usually too late to do anything. The first thing EVERY dictator made certain of was that the means to resist were gone BEFORE the supression came out into the open.

One "tactician" stated that "a bunch of bubbas with AK'S are nothing more than an itch for the government to scratch".

Certainly if the full power and might of our military came down on some rednecks living in the woods someplace, it would be pretty easy. But, I also believe that if anything bad ever did happen, our military wouldn't be so easy to turn on their own citizens. And with some 500 million guns across America, it'll be more than a couple of bearded bubbas to contend with.

Other "bubbas" in history who gave a large standing army a run for their money...

The viet cong, The Warsaw ghetto inhabitants, The Finnish resistance, The French resistance, the dutch resistance, Al-quaida, the Iraqi insurgency, the Taliban, the Palestinians, the IRA and so on.

So, I'd be hard pressed to so easily dismiss what a group of determined people can accomplish when they're fighting repression and for their lives.

But, it was the easy dismissle that "It's not likely to happen here anytime soon" that made me laugh at the foolishness of such an "eyes wide shut" kind of statement. One only needs to look around at things that are happening right in front of their faces.

No, the government hasn't yet trampled the constitution but, it is plain to see that they've set it on the floor and only managed to crinkle the edges of it while trying to step around it. They get closer and closer in tiny increments to stepping right on it that by the time anyone sees the bootprint dead in the middle, it'll be too late to even speak out against it all.

One only needs to look at the pro-government media right now and the usefull idiots who watch it and absorb the oppinions of the state...and repeat it like a mindless parrot. The tea partiers are a prime example of the media telling the weak minded who to hate. People who have become fed up with the government's spending, power grabs, violations of our rights, corruption, waste, lies and the arrogance of elected SERVANTS who's loyalty is with party leaders instead of the voters who put them in office...those folks who are protesting for EVERYONE'S rights are slandered with labels such as racists, teabaggers, white supremists, idiots, bubbas, nazis and the latest being pro apartheid. I begin to question people's intellect when I can watch Olbermann or Maddow spout something ignorant last night and read people who are repeating it verbatim the next today in the blogosphere. Hmmm, state sanctioned hate...I can't think of ANY other countries where a controlled media pulled that one off before!

But, I guess if your favored medium for information keeps assuring you that all is well, then theres no reason whatsoever to look elsewhere for information because all the facts you want to believe have already been absorbed, processed and, beyond questioning.

Huxley warns us of the Obama administration in 1959

What you're viewing should disturb the shit out of you...unless of course you're an Obamaphile. Huxley goes into detail of the use of propaganda which the Obama campaign used excessively and continues to use on the populace. Mike Wallace, ever the communist tries to make a fool of Huxley to no avail. Could you imagine anyone asking Obama difficult questions and then followup questions AND getting answers? So far it's never been done!

Obama was packaged, marketed and sold to the voters in the same way children's cereal is on saturday mornings. Everyone bought into his slogans without asking what was in the box. Some people are still only eating the slogans because they still think that "hope" is the prize at the bottom of the box.

The really odd thing about Huxley is that LIBERALS hold him in high esteem on his subjects concerning drug use but, seem to have shitcanned his warnings about totalitarianism and government encroachments on freedom and, have instead embraced the concept of individual freedom being secondary to the power of the state.

For my liberal readers, Huxley is your roots...as well as my own! My question is "why have you gone so far away from his teachings and warnings to embrace what can only be "anti-freedom"?

Increased taxes, and power ceded to the state over the individual person is counter to the bedrock of liberal ideals!

On another blog a person claimed the founding fathers of America were liberals!

Certainly they were the radical thinkers of their time but, after reading them, the comparison to a modern liberal is non-existent if not a complete joke in itsself! The modern liberal is 180 degrees out from the founders intent!

Escaping an all-encompassing government has come full circle to begging for an all-encompassing government? If escaping big government was liberal...then there are a lot of people out there mislabeling themselves! They're not liberals...they're statists...they just don't have the balls to come out of the closet and say it!

I see them as cowards. They want cradle to grave protections to save them from their own choices in life that America doesent gaurantee. But, at the same time they want all the rights and beneifts that America DOES guarantee without any of the risk. Thats why you'll hear a liberal praising Cuba, France, Bolivia and , other places as being "better" but you'll never see them going there for fear of living someplace where no rights are certain.

Fire! Ready...aim!

As usual, Toledo's mayor and some council members are going to punish a business owner because some idiotic patrons came in and caused trouble. In a city where the unemployment rate has been hovering around 16% and the city leaders have chased away longstanding businesses and turned off prospective businesses...why kill another business and put about 20 more people out of jobs?

And if Route 66 is so "bad" that it has to be closed down...guess what? The JACKASSES who frequented that place will simply move on to someplace else and wreck that place too!
But this is Toledo. It's how business is handled by the morons who keep getting elected.
And to the mayoral and council candidates who are trying to tie the Route 66 shootout to the police lay-offs, get real! If there had been 20 more cops, divided by all the different shifts that would have put maybe another 3 cops cruising the city!
And I'll bet that not one of them would have been anywhere near route 66 at the right time to have prevented a damned thing.
The clowns involved in the shooting didn't just simply become thugs since the cop layoffs. Actually, unless a cop was standing next to them, they would still be thugs.
Amateurish thugs at that! Any thug who along with 2 his buddies and can't fire 20 rounds at a guy standing in a doorway 20 feet away should give up on the thug life...it'll be a short one.

The healthcare debate and the Manhatten project

The Atom bomb and the healthcare debate. Yes, I can hear your questions already...."WTF do the 2 possibly have in common?"

Well, I watched a documentary about the manhattan project not long ago and also a movie from back in the 1950's that told the story too.

The project was top secret. The government gathered the best of the best minds together in New Mexico to develope and design it. Many of the scientists were married men and the government set up housing in order to allow the families to remain together for the extended period which nobody knew for certain whether it would be months or years.

The stipulation was that NOTHING pertaining to the project was to be discussed with anyone...to include the scientist's wives. One wife asked her husband who the men wearing the white coveralls jobs were. She was told they were "maintenance people" for the housing project when in reality they were nuclear scientists such as Oppenheimer and Enrico Fermi.
Well, a pipe had broken under the sink in that woman's house and she grabbed the nuclear scientist off the street and demanded he fix it. He stood there impotent and clueless looking at the leak until the husband arrived...and he said, "I'm a nuclear scientist...and I have no idea how to fix a simple plumbing problem!"

My correlation between that and healthcare is that an entire system that will effect 300 million people is being crafted by guys who were only smart enough to get themselves elected to a public office! None of them have ANY experience with the medical profession or, insurance industry whatsoever other than via political party donations and photo ops! They don't understand it and, obviously don't really care to.
If whatever they create doesent work, they're still covered by lifetime perks and the mistakes have no effect whatsoever for them. Meanwhile, we the people are left with whoever next manages to schmooz his way into office and the hope that that clown fixes it!
My wife can cut and style hair better than anyone I know. I'm not about to let her fix my car.
We're about to let a group of people with the same qualifications fix a healthcare system! Many are willing to trust them because they have a (d) or an (r) behind their names as the sole qualifier...as if politics can cure a disease.

Politics in this case IS the disease!

Peanuts...popcorn...nobel prizes!

That is pretty much what this formerly prestigous award has been reduced to. A booby-prize from the Nobel panel's department of wishfull thinking. Past awardees had to at bare minimum get their hands dirty and show some kind of progress towards a stated goal.
In Obama's case, he was nominated 11 days after taking office...purely from what Nobel committe members heard in his political rhetoric. It has in essence cheapened the award for those who received it before him...and also shows the Nobel committee's bias once again for leftist ideals.
Since Obama has gotten this for his "to-do" list, why not hand out everything to people...simply because they've promised to eventually earn it?
The nobel prize is now worthless and the committee has proven itsself to be a sham.
