And, 120+ years later...he's still right!

Did you read the link which you provided? Did you read the REASON that Grigsby wanted that to be carved onto his grave marker?

It was because he believed that the Democratic Party was the Confederate Party- the anti-Union, secessionist party which caused the deaths of 618,000 Americans.

That's why he disliked that Democratic Party.

Funny, though, that party morphed into the southern Republican Party shortly after Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act.

So, Sepp, the joke is on YOU!

-Sepp,

Some things never change. Mud_PILE is of course spinning the left's favorite mythology about Democrats (Liberals, Progressives, Socialists, whatever).

Of all the Democrats who opposed Civil Rights - how many crossed over to become Republicans?

How many Democrats who filibustered Civil Rights Act of 1964 died as vicious racist democrats?

Which Party passed the first Civil Rights legislation (1866)?

Which minority leader saved the second Civil Rights Act of 1964 by braking the Democrat's filibuster?

Which Party voted for the Civil Rights act of 1964 in greater proportion by percentage?

You are so gullible Mud_PILE.

So pretty much the democrats have been treasonous throughout their history. The one area they've managed to remain consistent.

I wonder how that man who had lost friends and sons who fought and died serving under our flag would react if he saw how little respect you liberal democrats lavish on it today?
Anytime someone wants to shit on America, you can always count on the democrats to jump in and happily participate.

-Sepp,

The next thing you know they'll be rehabilitating Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, and Mao - all famous liberals.

Are you THAT ignorant, Sepp?

Apparently. Nice spin, of course. You don't get it at all, do you?

Do you want a remedial lesson in the politics of the 1960's?

Just ask and I'll try to work you into my tutoring schedule.

THANKS! I'll add that one to the other 20 points I copied/pasted for my post on Right-wing Mythology.

I'm still thinking of a title for it. Do you have any suggestions?

I'm thinking of Right-wing Myth, Mystery and Moronity

What do you 'think,' CS>

Mud_PILE,

I think you are a waste of my time. We've been scrimmaging now for nearly a year. You have resisted any possible impulse to make an accurate or intelligent statement.

The answer to the questions that you dodged:

Only one of the Democrats who filibustered against the Civil rights Act of 1964 crossed over to the Republican Party - Strom Thurmond. His basic argument was a legal one not a racist one (like say Al Gore's Daddy's position).

All of the remaining Democrats who filibustered the Civil Rights Act of 1964 died Democrats and continued to make incredibly vicious racist statements. The Republicans who voted against the Civil Rights Act on the other hand all made legal arguments against it (i.e. they weren't vicious racists).

The Republican Party after defeating the Democrat Party in the American Civil War passed the first Civil Rights Act in 1866.

Republican Senate Minority Leader Everett Dirksen crossed the aisle and was instrumental in not only breaking the filibuster but passing the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Eighty percent of Republican Senators and 60 percent of Democrat Senators ultimately voted for the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

You won't recognize that Mud_PILE - it is actual history and it is the truth. Neither of which are your stock-in-trade.

But to show you what a good guy I am - here is a bonus question. Put your thinking cap on now:

Name the former Ku Klux Klansman who participated in the filibuster against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and continued to serve as a Democrat Senator as well as make racist comments until the day that he died.

Even you should know that one.
