Oddly, moonbats derided anyone who questioned that Obama was a muslim as a "racist" but, looking at his mideast follies, he's replaced the goverments of Libya, Egypt, Tunisia and comming soon, Syria with hardcore Islamist governments where they didn't exist before.
Why would anyone...especially a so-called liberal...who is supposed to be pro-minority, pro-gay, pro-women's rights engineer the atmosphere for those who believe in the exact opposite to gain power?

Petroleum is used in fertilizers, herbicides, harvesting equipment, insect repellants, preservatives and shipping it to the wholesaler and, then trucking it to the markets.
Add to the cost of fuel and, it's passed onto the consumer who has to eat something.

The Keystone XL pipeline wouldn't have cost the American taxpayer a dime. Nada, squat. Canadian and American companies would have picked up the entire tab.
It would have provided tens of thousands of jobs that really are shovel ready.
It would have linked our fuel dependence on a reliable ally.
It would have been the safest and most eco-freindly manner in which to deliver fuel.
It would have generated billions, on billions, in revenue for the States it passed through and the Federal government.
It would have put the Venezuelans, Saudis, Iranians, Nigerians, and Chinese in an absolute panic.
There is no down side - none. It is without a doubt the stupidest thing that Obama has done.
Think of it this way. He could have thrown the unions and the eco-nazis under the bus and sycophants like you would have defended him. By election time you would have convinced yourself that it was Obama's idea and submitted him for another Nobel Peace Prize.
There was no down side for Obama to approve it. It was a win-win for him and he still bobbled the ball. What a buffoon.

CS, I disagree somewhat with that idea since there is a huge difference in being oblivious to the truth and willfully ignoring it whenever it's convenient.
Muddy knows that the 20,000 instant jobs that would come with the pipeline and the countless hundreds of spur businesses in the service sector to support the endeavor are badly needed.
The problem is that an oil pipeline runs counter to the moonbat ideal that creating artificial limitations to petroleum will force the sale of green technology that isn't yet reliable or, affordable enough to compete in the marketplace let alone provide 20,000+ jobs.
The keystone project is reality slapping them in the face with the news that green technology isn't ready or, viable enough to replace petroleum yet or, even coal...regardless of how badly they want to believe it is.
Obama didn't kill the pipeline deal because he didn't think we needed it.
He killed it to appease the moonbat class of voters until after the election...as if the enviro-bats would vote against him.
In appeasing those clowns, he took a major piss on job creation, job seekers, the economy and, additional taxpayers being added to the pool.
IE, he pissed in the pool America swims in and drinks from in order to garner votes from moonbats who are mentally on par with the unibomer without the math skills.
He obviously saw a larger benefit in keeping 20,000+ people on foodstamps until he comes to a decision conveniently AFTER the election.

The price gouge is not caused by a SHORTAGE of oil.
The price gouge is caused by the oil speculation market.
FACT: 3 factors drive the price of oil:
1. supply
2. the value of the dollar
3. speculation

I think that you should research the meaning of the word "FACT" while you are looking for the meaning of the word "mythology."

Oil GLUT - you and I agree but for different reasons. There is more than enough oil on earth to fuel our society for decades if not more - it's governments that make exploration, transfer, sales, and refining difficult to impossible. Yes there is plenty of oil - getting it to the pump is a simple logistics function that Obama and his cronies are trying to make impossible.
FACT - there are numerous things that contribute to the price of gas. Taxes are a huge part - indeed Federal State, and Local governments make more on each gallon of gas than the oil companies do.
FACT - there are many contributing factors to the price of gas like the insanity of government requiring different blends which increases cost as the complexity of supplying fuel goes up. The Ethanol insanity drives prices up.
The Enron loop-hole is just another example of why letting bureaucrats screw with the free market is stupid. The Frank-Dodd bill is stupid too. So what's your point? The government is always slamming the door after the proverbial cow escapes - that's what they do. Didn't Clinton sign that bill anyway? The the freer the market - the happier we will all be.

Carl Levin tried to get rid of it in 2008 by stashing the amendment in the 2008 farm bill.
