Newsflash...the Greek communists and trade unions are "striking" (vandalizing everything in sight) again in opposition of losing their beloved unsustainable welfare state.
The whole thing seems insane to me since the country is going to go belly up unless the other Eurozone nations bail them out of their self-constructed mess while the communists and unionists are demanding that nothing changes...just keep right on doing the same crap that has caused the entire mess in the first place!
That seems to be a main theme with most leftists.
Create an unrealistic and unsustainable model,
Go deep into debt while trying to sustain it,
Refuse to believe that it never works,
Refuse to believe that it's too expensive,
Resist trimming costs,
Pretend nothing is wrong,
Find scapegoats to blame problems on,
And do the exact same thing all over again when it fails!
It seems to me that the Greeks have become so deeply dependent on the government freebies that they're willing to destroy Greece and lose everything before accepting the fact that their welfare state can't possibly continue.
The rioters seem to think that they should get a bailout while changing nothing...as though the Eurozone will just keep sending a stipend.
THAT is the entitlement mentality hard at work. We see the same style of idiots here in America who balk at the idea that their freebies could be reduced.
Sadly, America could also be seeing the same problems as the Greeks in the future if we continue down the same path we're on.
The national debt over the last 3 years has almost doubled from 8.5 trillion to just under 16 trillion...and few are asking how that is even possible!
The CBO's estimate is that by 2016, we'll be hitting about 18 trillion which judging from the last 3 years, sounds a bit short.
What our government is doing is no more sustainable than what Greece is doing.
We may not be in the same boat but, we're busily rowing behind them while trying to get our motor started so we can pass them.
The problem for America is the fact that there is no country that can bail us out if worst comes to worst.

We already are there, IMHO. Most folks just somehow think we are above this type of behavior. Oh wait, wasn't there massive demonstrations in an upper Midwest State where so many folks came from across the country to bully the State government? And didn't they ultimately succeed?
Mrs AL, I still like to believe (foolishly I'm sure)that our spending problem can be corrected before the debt is completely unrecoverable.
The fact is that unless something is done besides some token "look we did something" cuts to spending, we'll become a third world nation.
When the Soviet Union imploded due to the same reasons, their own citizens described Russia as being "The Congo with missiles".
We're headed in the same direction.
Not for one second is that foolish, Sepp. Yours truly is becoming more and more cynical as time goes on, that's all.
Actually it is possible to reverse it. Not likely given career politicians are in charge. What drives me even crazier is that those who are labeled "Tea Party" candidates and office holders may very well turn out to be like the whoha that dominates the legislative branch right now. See, there's that cynicism again.
Coming to America in October 2012.
-Sepp,
I saw the possible future on Thursday night at CPAC. Congressman Paul Ryan was the keynote speaker - to get out of this will require boldness and courage. His plan is to once again roll out a budget that bends the spending curve down - the hue and cry will be excruciating, even Greek-like.
Liberals (democrats, progressives, socialists, whatever) have produced the same selfish, lazy, worthless batch of scumbags as the Greeks have. They are not going to step off the gravy train willingly.
Find scapegoats to blame problems on...
Who are the scapegoats, Sepp?
CS- I saw highlights of the CPAC Convention. I'm not sure if I'm correct, but it seemed like a hate-fest. Did you see something positive among all of the speeches?
Who are the scapegoats? Do you want this week's scapegoat or, a list? Maybe I could post a few of Obama's speaches and, interviews and we could pick a few goats from his usual list of "everybody but me" is to blame?
It's hard not to think of any period during the last 3 years when the administration hasn't had a "villian of the month" to lay the blame for something on.
As for CPAC, I was sent a link to Allen West's speech that was commendable to say the least. Other than that, I haven't bothered to check on who's there or, whats being said.
...so you cannot come up with any 'scapegoats?'
This is the problem I find in reading your blog, Sepp. You make claims and say things that it seems that you have not investigated.
Anybody can create a blog; there is no minimum requirement. That's why there are millions of them.
Yet, the more valuable ones actually propose something or give the reader important information that they can use.
What does YOUR blog provide, Sepp?
I see very little of any substance here other than your parroting something your heard on AM radio or FoxNews.
What can a person learn from reading this blog?
Mud,
If your blog was printed as a paper, at least we could wipe our asses with it. As it is, though, what good is it?
Mud_PILE,
Actually it was quite up-lifting. Conservatism is once more in ascendancy and we can feel that. While there were plenty of shots at Obama all the speakers I saw were focused on what we bring to the table - freedom, fiscal responsibility, and prosperity.
Obama has shown us all just how bankrupt the ideology of the left is - we're going to win big and the excitement is palpable.
How about oil companies, banks, insurance companies, electrical utilities, brokerages, Bush, the republicans, the tea partiers, religion, the religious, limbaugh, "rayycists", the so-called greedy, white people, gun owners, guns, taxpayers, citizens aka "bitter clingers" businesses and business owners...the list could go on muddy as if you didn't know it by heart anyways.
I write this blog for me.
If 1000 people read it or, nobody reads it, it isn't important.
How about YOUR blog? What can one learn from reading your thoughts?
How to be a bigot towards anyone who belongs to a religion? (Except for Islam you keep your mouth shut tight where that one is concerned)
Or, maybe they can learn to post moobattish ravings and then, create alternate profiles to answer and agree with themselves?
Or, are you offering a class on editing and rewriting / rewording people's rebuttals with the wordpress edit feature?
Or, maybe folks are learning how to make bigoted comments towards other people while at the same time pointing the finger and crying "bigot" at someone else?
Maybe folks go there for a lesson in hypocracy?
You see, that is why there is an area for comments so if someone sees a fault in my facts, they have the ability to present their arguement AND a correction.
YOU don't comment on the posts, you comment on the poster which is why your blog has jumped the shark.
You and your moonbat friends never seem to dispute the post, you only try to insult the poster.
Look at the last few posts you've left here.
Petty jabs and critiques of me but, nothing on topic.
If you don't like my blog or, what I have to say and, you're unable to learn anything from it, there are plenty of others to choose from.
Your "answer" was just as I suspected it would be.
Perhaps you ought to read my latest post centering on the words of the past economic adviser to Reagan and GHW Bush.
He has some pretty harsh words for GW Bush and right-wingers who parrot the shit they hear from Fox and AM radio.
Specifically, he addresses the asinine mantra of right-wingers who insist on no new taxes without corresponding massive spending cuts.
It's a rigged system, Sepp, where the 1% of the 1% accrue enormous wealth while schleps like you, CS, Hardnox and TGP cheer-lead for them.
That's what I 'learned' but I seldom find anything of any value when I drift over here.
Mud_PILE,
You don't learn anything because you are stuck in a bankrupt ideology and worship liberal (progressive, democrat, socialist, whatever) dogma. What you and Obama propose has never worked - not once.
Liberalism has failed everywhere it has been tried and is responsible for the death by government of at least 140,000,000 souls. There is even a word for it: Democide
That doesn't even count the 50,000,000 babies that have died because the liberal Holy Grail is abortion.
Again - you don't come to blogs to "learn something" - you are far to arrogant to consider that you have anything to learn. You come to these sites to shout down the opposition to your liberal Gods. Liberals don't believe in a free exchange of ideas - they believe that only their ideas should be heard.
*Sigh
"Specifically, he addresses the asinine mantra of right-wingers who insist on no new taxes without corresponding massive spending cuts."
Ohhh really? You're going to sit there and claim that conservatives haven't been demanding cuts?
The truth is that conservatives oppose raising people's taxes just to cover the democrat's spending sprees. And, it would be a bold faced lie for you to say you've never heard me criticize Bush when he was overspending multiple times.
Your pal Obama has been spending like a madman at twice the rate of Bush in half the time.
The democrats simply assume that they can raise taxes to pay for their utopian pet programs and nobody will care.
So, your quoting a guy about spending and taxes while at the same time supporting Obama is just plain laughable.
the 1% of 1% keep getting richer? So what?
Am I supposed to be mad at them because they've found a way to earn wealth in greater quantities than I do?
The MAIN reason that I don't make millions is due to ME and, where MY priorities were when I was getting my education.
They studied and, I partied...so, THEY should be punished for it?
No, that's libthink.
I earn a decent living and, have no complaints. The very idea of shitting on people who have done the legwork and in turn have become richer than me deserve my praises instead of my scorn.
I think the idea of blaming successfull people as being the problem while holding up the slugs of society as some kind of noble people is as ass-backwards as a society can get.
And, liberals do it all the time.
You don't "learn" anything over here because you never even read the posts.
Like your moonbat friends at your blog, you only attack the poster while ignoring the point of the message completely.
The very idea of shitting on people who have done the legwork and in turn have become richer than me deserve my praises instead of my scorn.
Wow! You have sold your brain to the one percent of the one-percenters.
You either don't get it or do not want to get it. I haven't decided which one.
No doubt [and tell me if I'm wrong] you actually 'believe' that old canard that McConnell, Boehner and Cantor say time after time: 'we can't raise taxes on the job-creators.'
Do you?
Do you know who the one-percenters are?
Do you know where they get their money?
Do you know what percent of them own businesses?
Do some research and give me the answers.
I haven't "sold my brain" to anyone muddy.
I really don't give two shits enough about how much so-and-so earns to concern myself and worry about it.
Why do you care what someone else earns and pays in taxes but, on the flip side you don't care if someone earns nothing, pays nothing while reaping the most benefit?
Our country is being spent into the ground and, targeting the rich for scorn is what every marxist system has used in order to refocus the wrath of the ignorant away from the real problem.
You certainly can't be stupid enough to believe that if we began taxing millionaires at an 80% rate today, that it would even come close to bridging the spending gap of the government.
Greece isn't imploding right now because their "evil rich" managed to get away with something. It's imploding because their government is chock full of left-wing fools who promised money for nothing until they had nothing left.
Claiming that the cause of our debt is because the rich aren't paying enough while willfully ignoring the fact that the government spends too much is just plain ignorant.
Mud_PILE,
Do you know who the one-percenters are?
Yes - they are the risk takers and super-productive members of our society. Oddly enough their population is not stagnant. Some of them will fall out of the category or be replaced by new people cracking into it. That's the beauty of the country you hate so much (America) and the system that made it great (Free-Market Capitalism) that you despise as well.
Do you know where they get their money?
Not in all cases - but I know where they DIDN'T get it - they didn't steal it from the "99%." Which is no doubt what you believe. Conservatives don't believe the liberal lie that wealth is a zero sum game - we want everyone to have an ever increasing share of the pie - not be cutting smaller slices, or stealing slices and passing them around - but rather by making more or bigger pies.
However in some cases (check out the revolving millionaire door at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac) government has made some of the 1% (Has Joe Biden ever had a real job?) and that is indeed theft of the worst sort.
An easy way to confirm how you are wrong is to see the way the size of the economy grows under Republican leadership. If the economy grows faster than the population (think Reagan-era) then the pie just got bigger as did EVERYONE's slices.
Do you know what percent of them own businesses?
No - and it really doesn't matter. If fairly and legally earned it's their money and no one else has a right to take it from them.
