The latest Obamacare drama...

Obamacare and the Catholic church had a nice little pitbull / owner relationship until the church recently discovered that the rules apply to them too.
In other words, the church supported something that turned right around and bit it in the ass.

I can still remember the star-struck idiots who belong to the Catholic churches here in Toledo blabbering the democrat party line about Obamacare.
They foolishly believed (as many other idiots out there still seem to) that only the "good parts" of the law that they agree with will apply to them even though the law is pretty cut and dry...but who needs to read a law when the politicians who are trying to pass it are assuring you that nothing is rotten in Denmark?

The church's leadership either didn't bother to study the law or, were convinced that they would get a free pass on areas they disagreed with...as opposed to simply demanding the removal of those parts.

Now they look foolish for believing that the rattlesnake wouldn't bite them while crossing the river.

They also look foolish for ditching God and placing their faith in the word of self-serving politicians while they ignored the evidence that the populace was placing before them.

Even if you're not a Catholic or even religious, this overstep by the government should concern you because, in the mind of a politician, anything they can take from you, regardless of how small is always going to be used as the stepping stone to take something else later.

And, as witnessed over the last few years, any law that is or, has the potential to be unpopular or, unconstitutional is either buried by the media or, propagandized by the media in order to deflect possible public outrage.
And, you can usually bet that if a democrat is involved in the creation of a law, there will always be crap stuffed between the pages that have nothing to do with the law or, be reflected in the law's title.
The Catholic church's leadership swallowed the obamacare propaganda hook, line and, sinker and advised it's membership to support it.
They're obviously just as foolish as the left wingers who seem to believe that supporting a bad idea will somehow prevent it's bad effects from touching their own values later on.

The Soviet gulags and, the Nazi concentration camps were full of idiots who supported the very ideas that came back around to bite them in the ass.
Why?
Because they were dumb enough to believe that whatever they advocated that would harm others, could never possibly be used on them too.

When are you going to learn, Sepp, that when a person, a blogger, resorts to lines like this, it pretty well denotes them as incompetent?

Make your case, Sepp, without resorting to this type of hyperbolic rhetoric. [Debate 202]

I disagree muddy. I wasn't calling anyone a nazi or, a communist, I was comparing fools to fools.

It's well documented that during the Soviet and Nazi regimes that, citizens who actively supported the agendas and mandates, later found themselves victimized by what they themselves supported.

The Catholic church fell into the same kind of trap because they were naive enough to think that they're beliefs would be respected while supporting an agenda that trampled on other's beliefs.

Now they find themselves on the inside of the proverbial barbed wire looking out.

I'm a Catholic and I have to laugh at the irony of the Catholic Church leaders who supported the Obamacare legislation. Indeed, it has come back full circle to bite them in the ass. In a way, the bishops and other libtard Catholics who supported the Hope and Change snake oil deserve what they get from it. "Social justice" now is a social injustice to them.

James, the bad thing about the fools who bought the snakeoil is that they took everyone else down with them in their rush for a perceived freebie.

Back in '09 I was shouting until I'd turned blue for people to educate themselves as to what exactly they were supposedly getting and, what they would be exchanging to get it.

"We have to pass the bill before you can know what's in it"

THAT statement alone should have sounded an alarm to everyone that something rotten was afoot but, it didn't.
Instead of reading what was in it, most people just clicked on the TV and allowed some leftist pundit to "explain" it to them...and accepted the made-for-tv version as the whole truth.

I think the church's main motivation for supporting this monster was that it saw an opportunity to shift a chunk of it's charitable spending onto the government via the taxpayer.
They never bothered to consider the strings that were attatched would effect them.

-Sepp,

If Mud_PILE thinks that you are speaking in hyperbole then you must be right on target. They know they went too far now as they are trying to walk it back.

You are right - if they can do this - then there isn't anything they can't do. I was at a Men's meeting at my church this morning. Men who generally don't care about politics are shocked and dismayed. A guy who hasn't uttered a political word to me in the five or more years that I have known him is afraid of "civil war" - his words.

Thank you Barack Hussein Obama - you just handed us another superior arrow for our political quiver you socialist bastard you.

Mud_PILE - this will mean that the only democrat (socialist, progressive, liberal, whatever) who will enter the White House after January 2013 and for the next 12-16 years will be the invited guest of the Republican President.

It seems that Obama was trying to push people's limits again to simply see if he could get away with it and, for once they put the brakes on him.
What he's quickly finding out is that there are some areas of people's beliefs that you should probably stay the hell out of and away from.
Even the more liberal church people have been pretty irate about this move as well as many non-Catholics who have begun to say,
"Well, if he's going to try this crap on the Catholics, he'll have no qualms about trying something similar on us later!"

It was a very bad political miscalculation on Obama's part because it's obvious that he thought that the left had villianized religion enough that nobody would care.

Whoops, still too soon.

-Sepp,

We need to make sure that this time we don't end up paraphrasing Pastor Martin Neimoller later:

"First they came for the Catholics . . . . and I did nothing because I wasn't Catholic."
